What Kind of American English Do You Speak?

Today we had a discussion about accents, phrases and grammar. Do you do something “on accident” or “by accident” and how do you pronounce the word ‘aunt”

We decided that a lot of it depends on where you are from. Then we found these quizzes to test your dialect. Mine were fairly accurate. How about yours?

Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

Another good one was: What Kind of American English Do You Speak?

According to this quiz, my linguistic profile is:
55% General American English
25% Yankee
10% Dixie
5% Upper Midwestern
0% Midwestern

I guess living south of the Mason-Dixon for all this time has impacted after all!
