Good times, happy people

On Friday night we celebrated David's (belated) birthday and Mike's (early) birthday at The Capital Grille.
We had a 1999 Taittinger Champagne Brut Millésimé. Very enjoyable, this vintage Champagne had a citrus nose and sour apple on the palate.

We drank a 2001 Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée de mon Aïeul which was just incredible. It had a very sweet nose, a dense and concentrated sweet fruit palate and a lovely lingering finish.

We had a 2003 Lagier Meredith Syrah from Napa Valley.
It had high toned fruit with a nice acidic finish.

We had a bottle of 1970 Taylor (Fladgate) Porto Vintage. It took forever to decant but was well worth the wait. Our fantastic waiter, Jose, was really patient and careful with our bottle.

On Saturday night we went to Alex and Amy's wedding in Ellicott City. Alex is a friend and former colleague of David's. Their ceremony had a reading of a really beautiful poem and the wedding was so much fun!

Amy looked beautiful- congrats guys!

We weren't the newlyweds in the room- crazy!

David was pumped that he got to wear his tux again.
We'd look great- except -whats wrong with my foot?!

Happy Newlywed Couples

Then on Sunday night, Kathy and Chad came over for dinner. David worked hard on his Caesar dressing, marinara sauce and meatballs. Kathy made a very yummy tiramisu for desert. Everything was delish!
