Happy 2009

Happy New Year everyone!

David and I rang in 2009 surrounded by good friends and having a fun evening at Becky & Aaron's new home in Clarksburg. We were joined by Mike and Kathy & Chad.

We had what I'd argue was one of the greatest dinners ever. Everyone contributed (although our hosts did most of the heavy lifting) and it was an hors d'oeuvres extravaganza! We had mini pizza bagels, pigs in blankets, toasted ravioli, bacon wrapped scallops, mac and cheese, artichoke dip, various cheeses and veggies, tortellini soup, meatballs, mini wraps and lots more! Of course there were nice wines and fun cocktails too. We ate, drank and played a few board games until midnight.

We watched the ball drop, toasted with champagne and made ice-cream sundaes for dessert.

This picture requires a little background. There was a neighborhood ice cream shop we frequented before it closed in 2006. It made all of its ice cream in-store and had several flavors- but more than anything they had multiple variations of peanut butter infused flavors (peanut butter mocha, peanut butter chocolate chip, etc). In fact, the peanut butter flavors far outnumbered all other selections. Anyway, it was kind of a hole in the wall place and one day we saw a rubberband in the ice cream After that, we referred to it as the peanut-butter-rubber-band ice cream shop. So with all of the other sundae toppings, Becky also included a rubberband option for old times sake. Delish!

Our fabulous hosts

It was a really fun night. Overall, I'd say that 2008 was a very good year. There were certainly more highs than lows, several 'firsts' and many many pictures taken along the way. We look forward to what 2009 has in store for us, and wish everyone a joyful, healthy and happy year.

We also continue to eagerly await the arrival of Kevin and Andrea's baby girl. At last report, she was not quite ready to start her journey to the world (more specifically, Atlanta) but she should be here very soon and we are SO excited!
