Newborn Photo Slideshow

So this whole parenting thing... it takes up a lot of time! Who knew?!

Everyone is doing great, Maya is an absolute joy and I get lost in her beautiful eyes and big smiles. Today is our first day as "just the two of us" and so far there have been no calamities.

I promise to get better about posting new pictures, developments and milestones in the coming days. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this video: Maya Hazel Ehrlich.

Thank again to Brooke Bready for the portraits.

Introducing...

No, I did not fall off the face of the earth, things have just been a little hectic 'round these parts because...
It's a girl!!

With much love and excitement, we are proud to announce the arrival of our daughter: Maya Hazel Ehrlich. Born on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 12:24 pm at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, she is healthy, full of life, and absolutely gorgeous. Maya was 7 lb 5oz and 18 1/4 inches long. Below is our first family photo.

Maya is named after my Great Grandpa Morris and David’s Great Uncle Herman. Both men played a significant role in our lives and those of our families.

The name Maya has several meanings. Our favorite explanation is that the name has been derived from the Greek expression meaning 'Great' because she is our absolute greatest joy.

We came home on Saturday afternoon. Everyone is doing great, and both of us are so in love with our little girl.

Yesterday, we gave Maya her Hebrew name, Miriam Ronit.

Maya has been getting to know her wonderful grandparents and great grandparents this week. We can't wait for all of you to meet the newest member of our family!

The Incredible Growing Belly

It's almost showtime! Our bags are packed, car seat is installed (and inspected), pack and play is assembled and I got my nails done this afternoon (priorities, you know?) so we are officially ready for tomorrow.

With just hours to go before Baby E makes his or her debut, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at my progression over the last several months. We didn't take pictures at regular intervals- it was really just whenever we thought to take one- but I think we were able to capture the right effect.
